Friday, February 14, @ 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST

Join Hannah Sloan and Arden Sherman on Instagram, Friday, February 14 for an insightful HSC&A / IG Live. This time we’re heading (virtually) to Florida to view the Norton Museum of Art’s latest show, Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artist on Boxing, where we’ll be taking a tour of the exhibition with curator, Arden Sherman.

Strike Fast, Dance Lightly features over 100 powerful artworks, spanning from the 19th century to today, that explore the global impact of boxing. The exhibition presents a critical look at the sport of boxing through a variety of artistic media, and features artists from around the globe including: Hernan Bas, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Amoako Boafo, Katherine Bradford, Zoë Buckman, Edward Hopper, Rosalyn Drexler, Jeffrey Gibson, Allegra Pacheco, Ed Ruscha, Alison Saar, Gary Simmons, to name a few.

Through paintings, photographs, sculptures, and even bejeweled boxing gloves, the show examines prizefighting as a metaphor for human struggle.
